Financial Assistance

At BostonGene, we are committed to working with your financial situation and finding a way to make our tests affordable. We have designed a Financial Assistance program that could offer a better understanding of what your maximum out-of-pocket cost would be and allow you some financial flexibility.

We encourage you to apply for financial assistance prior to the test administration, but if you don’t, the program is available to you at any point of the journey. The program covers longitudinal testing for up to 18 months.

We will bill your insurance first and the qualified assistance will be applied to any balance deemed as the patient’s responsibility after insurance processes our claim. 

Please note that once a claim is submitted to your insurance, you might receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB). THIS IS NOT A BILL. 

We will work with your insurance to get the best coverage for you, including filing an appeal on your behalf in case of a denial.

Application Process

Applications are processed within 1-2 business days and the results will be communicated by the preferred method indicated on the application.

Am I eligible for testing?

All U.S.-based patients are eligible to apply for assistance. 

The financial assistance program is currently not available to international patients.  However, we provide a discounted self-pay price and are able to work out an affordable payment plan to fit into your financial situation.

Will I receive a bill from BostonGene, and what can I expect?

At BostonGene, we accept all U.S.-based medical insurance plans, and we will bill your insurance directly for our testing services. Currently, BostonGene is an out-of-network provider, so processing an insurance claim takes about 30-45 days. Sometimes it might take a little longer if your insurance needs additional information to decide or if we have to appeal an initial denial. You may receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance company during this time. This is NOT a bill. We will work with your insurance to get the best coverage for you. We will not send you any bills until we reach a final decision with your insurance company. At the end of the billing cycle, your insurance might determine that you are responsible for a deductible, coinsurance, and other out-of-pocket expenses described in the final EOB.

What if my insurance company denies coverage?

BostonGene will advocate getting your claim covered and will work with your insurance company to get the best possible outcome. If our claim is denied, we will continue working with your insurance company and complete all available levels of provider appeals on your behalf with your consent.

What if I cannot afford to pay for testing?

If you have concerns about not being able to afford the cost of our test, BostonGene developed a Financial Assistance Program designed to help decrease the financial burden on patients. Patients may qualify based on income, household size, and other extenuating circumstances affecting their financial situation. You can apply for financial assistance by completing our simple one-page application form. Affordable payment plan options are available for International patients.

What happens if my insurance company sends me a check for BostonGene testing?

If you receive a check from your insurance provider, please endorse the check to BostonGene Corporation, sign the back, and mail it directly to the following address:
