Director, Payer Relations

Position Summary

The Director, Payer Relations is responsible for developing relationships with payers and focuses on establishing collaborations with assigned payer accounts.  Developing strategies for payer adoption and coverage of BostonGene’s products. This role ensures that the company can optimize regional payer coverage and value-based payments by establishing long-range plans, strategies, and programs to ensure the attainment of effective coverage and reimbursement for BostonGene products and services.


  • Focuses specifically on attaining engagement and developing collaborations with payers within assigned region
  • Flawless presentation of BostonGene’s value proposition and movement through the payer sales cycle
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships with payers and focuses on establishing collaborations including but not limited to: pilot programs, CED agreements, value based agreements, demonstration projects
  • Initiates and is responsible for the development, communication and implementation of effective regional payer growth strategies and processes
  • Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the reimbursement status of regional payer targets
  • Evaluates, plans, develops, implements and directs the region’s reimbursement function and performance
  • Represents the firm with payer clients, healthcare policymakers, society organizations, patient advocates and other key stakeholders that make or influence reimbursement decisions
  • Designs and executes on innovative collaborations with various payer types in order to promote the adoption of BostonGene's products


  • 5+ years of strong reimbursement-related industry experience
  • Contracts and negotiation experience including ability to hit the ground running
  • Proven ability to think outside the box in order to move BostonGene’s payer value proposition forward towards achievement of innovative collaborations, policy coverage and broad inclusion
  • Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
  • Flexible and able to multitask, working within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment entrepreneurial environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
