Research Associate(RA)/Histotechnologist(HT)

Position Summary

Bostongene is seeking a Research associate(RA)/Histotechnologist(HT) to its imaging team in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. The RA/HT is expected to independently perform routine histology, including tissue fixation, processing, embedding and sectioning with the highest quality for patient samples. The RA/HT will perform Hematoxylin and Eosin(H&E) and other histology staining as needed. Under supervision, the RA/HT is also expected to carry out experiments related to immunohistochemistry and other immunoassays designed to measure protein biomarkers in patient samples.


  • Accessioning and labeling of patient samples, record keeping in LIM system
  • Tissue fixation, processing and paraffin embedding
  • Paraffin sectioning, mounting sections on slides or coverslips
  • Routine H&E staining
  • Perform all special stain procedures and immunohistochemistry as needed
  • Construct tissue microarray (TMA) blocks
  • Scan slides into image database
  • Adhere to laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities
  • Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA/CAP regulations


  • Experience with patient sample handling
  • Experience in histology work, including tissue processing, embedding and sectioning
  • Experience in immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence(desired but not required)
  • Experience in microscopy and/or slide scanners
  • Experience in cryosectioning (preferred)
  • Adept at following protocols and maintaining detailed written records
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • A BS degree in a scientific field. Minimum 2 years of histology experience as a histotechnologist in a clinical or research setting. HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification desired
