Position Summary
BostonGene is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to participate in research and clinical projects in the area of precision oncology.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the research of oncogenesis and tumor properties integrating WES, WGS, RNAseq, scRNAseq and Imaging data analysis
- Develop algorithms and analyze NGS data (WES, WGS, RNAseq, scRNAseq)
- Study the basics of tumor oncogenesis, while participating in projects aimed to discover personalized biomarkers of therapeutic efficacy
- Analyze tumor biology
- Analyze scientific literature and expand the BostonGene knowledge base on oncogenesis and the tumor’s molecular and cellular characteristics
- Analyze the mechanism of action of drugs at the molecular and cellular level
- Participate in the development of a model to describe molecular and cellular properties of a tumor
Qualifications
- Experience in RNAseq data analysis with the following:
- - Identifying somatic mutations from genomic sequencing data
- - Estimating changes in the copy number of genome elements and their structural rearrangements from sequencing data
- - Evaluating gene expression using various metrics from transcriptome sequencing data and their normalization
- - Analysis and interpretation of differential gene expressions
- - Analysis of the representation and the search for molecular pathways by molecular data of various types
- Knowledge of fundamentals of immunology and cell biology
- Prior working knowledge of molecular biology and cell signaling
- Familiarity of the molecular basics of modern targeted and immune antitumor therapies is encouraged
- Experience with scientific literature and scientific databases
- Previous background in experimental work within biochemistry and molecular biology is preferred
- Experience with Python/pandas, R, GNU coreutils
- MS or PhD in Biological sciences and/or Computer Science
