Scientist/Senior Scientist, Immunohistochemistry

Position Summary

BostonGene is seeking a Scientist/Sr. Scientist to join its expanding imaging team in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. The Scientist is expected to independently carry out experiments related to histology, immunohistochemistry and related immunoassays designed to measure protein biomarkers in patient samples. There will be opportunities to work in cross-functional teams and collaborate with others as necessary.


  • Independently carry out projects for timely delivery with minimal supervision
  • Develop and troubleshoot protocols relating to IHC, ELISA and Western blotting assays for antibody screening and validation
  • Perform antibody conjugation and quality control procedures
  • Execute multiplex immunofluorescence assays on tumor tissues
  • Inspect and analyze immunofluorescence images for signal quality assessment
  • Keep records of all experimental conditions and assays in an electronic notebook and LIM system
  • Willing to learn other lab techniques including but not limited to DNA/RNA extraction, cDNA library preparation, RT-PCR and gene sequencing


  • MS or PhD in biological sciences 
  • 2+ years relevant experience in academia or in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, either manual or on automated staining systems such as Leica Bond
  • Experience in basic histology, sample handling, microscopy and/or slide scanners
  • Experience in antibody conjugation and protein chemistry, familiar with ELISA and Western blotting
  • Experience in image analysis software such as ImageJ or HALO (preferred)
  • Experience in translational/clinical IHC marker development (desired)
  • Must be adept at following protocols and maintaining detailed written records
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Strong problem solving skills
